Cars
Australia is a car country, its bast territory and spread out cities mean having access to a car is necessary for everyday tasks.
Owning a car in Australia means a few expenses are to be considered:
- State registration (or rego)
- Driver license
- Third party compulsory insurance (or green slip)
- Comprehensive car insurance
- Gas/Petrol, based on use
- Car service, depending on make/model
If moving to Australia from USA, or any other country where drivers sit on the left hand side, it may take some time to get used to driving on the right hand side.
Expensive cars (those over a certain price of around AUD70.000) are also taxed with a special levy, the Luxury Car Tax, or LCT.
